Moleskine Notebook News
A moleskine that would not fit in your bag, that must be kidding. Yes it's just a kidding nothing in this earth can ask Modo & Modo to produce a huge Moleskine Notebook. But this picture looks nice and if only it's true many Moleskine Notebook owner would be surprised.

You might knew or heard about bad weather suffering north part of Europe on 18 January 2007. I was there and experienced these terrible storm. I wrote my experience on my moleskine and now I tell it to you.

Terrible weather was expected a day before.

I heard the weather forecast mentioned about oncoming storm a night before, but still I go to Utrecht city by train. I was not prepared for a bad weather, nevertheless I carry my molekine as usual and I wrote my journey time table as well.

Chronological report on my moleskine.

08.30 am. I take the intercity train from Amsterdam in direction to Utrecht. I see clouds covering the sky, and a little bit windy

09.30 am I arrived at Utrecht central station and taking bus route number 11. The wind is getting stronger and it was starting to rain.

10.00 am. I stepped out of bus and suddenly the wind blows hard together with heavy rain, my coat is wet just in few seconds. In that condition I have to open my moleskine to find out the building location map I sketched a day before. Fortunately there is a bookmark band on each moleskine, so I can find my sketched map easily and indeed it saved my moleskine from become too wet.

10.05 am. I managed to find the building and rushed inside to avoid the rain.

10.10 - 12.00 pm I stay inside the building during my meeting. I heard the water keep splashing hardly on the windows and somehow because the wind is too strong, a crane on nearby building is collapsed and few minute later I hear several ambulance and police cars come. I wrote this meeting results in my moleskine but in between I inserted short note about crane accident.

12.15 I have to cross the road for taking my lunch on the next building. The wind reached it's high speed when I try to cross the road and my friend almost falling down because of it. I finally managed to reach the restaurant, without my moleskine become wet.

12.20 - 13.30 Oh no, something is wrong with the restaurant, they can't serve my lunch quick enough. So I have to run to go on my next meeting.

13.35 I have to take bus because my next meeting is on different location. The storm is getting worse, and many people think that the bus is not runs due to safety reason. I take a quick look on my moleskine to ensure my bus line number.

13.50 Finally my bus arrived and quickly I jump inside the bus because I can't stand the wind any longer.

14.15 After checking my moleskine for the next meeting location at bus stop, I run to the building which is 200 meters away from the bus stop.

14.30 - 16.00 I stay inside the building, but unfortunately some of my meeting partner already went home because of bad weather.

16.15 The meeting completed and I'm preparing to go home. Alas, there is no bus nor taxi to go to train station. But the worse condition is coming short after that. All trains is stopped due to safety reason, and all passengers have to stay in crisis center until the weather back to normal.

21.00 After waiting for my taxi and no sign of it to arrive, I decide to walk to the crisis center around 1 km away. First thing I look for when I arrived in crisis center is my moleskine, because I put it in my coat's pocket so I worried it become wet. Thank got it still dry.

22.00 There's still no information whether my train run again or not, so I have to wait and finally I fall sleep together with my moleskine until the next day.

How To Write Good Articles

As a writer you may be ready to cash in on the need for web content. There is a lot of money that can be made through content writing if you know what web publishers are looking for in high quality content. If you are a very versatile writer you will find that you can actually make content writing your full time job! The new trend of article marketing has writers very excited because webmasters all over the Internet are hungry for talented writers who can't pump out the high quality content fast enough.

What to Write
Exactly what you should write will depend on whom you are writing for. If you are a writer that is writing pieces for an article directory you will want to keep things as generic as possible. The more nonspecific you can keep your articles the more likely a webmaster will choose your article to be displayed on his or her website. It's important not to mention websites or specific products, as this can limit the usefulness of the article to webmasters because they generally do not want to promote anything other than themselves and especially not their competitors. Most web publishers are looking for content, not marketing pages.

If you are writing for a specific web publisher you will want to keep in mind what their business is all about. Think about key phrases or words that are often associated with their product, business, or service and include them in the article. Be sure that the key phrases you come up with or are provided don't seem unnatural and they don't disrupt the flow of the article. Key words and phrases are only as helpful as their placement. Remember, we are talking about quality content, which reads well and helps search engines figure out what the website is all about at the same time.

Research Required
Make sure that if you are writing on a topic and you don't have first hand knowledge that you research! Content provided by websites is only as useful as the author that is writing. If you only provide fluff and no real meat in articles visitors will be less likely to come back to the website again, so you are actually working against the plan to increase traffic with the article. Always look at your article the way that a visitor would and try to provide all of the information you would want if you were that person.

How to Write
Your style of writing is really a matter of opinion. Many web publishers like for their content to be written in a very conversational style. This writing style allows for readers to feel as though the author is talking to them, and it's just a very comfortable way to get information on the Internet. If you take an official tone many visitors may be turned off even though you are providing all of the information that is needed.

Market Yourself
Don't forget your resource box! The resource box is the section either at the beginning or end of an article that tells the reader who you are, any websites that you are affiliated with, and may even provide links to the websites. This is a great way to market yourself. While a web publisher may first find your work on an article directory he or she may contact you personally for your services, in which case you usually stand to make a lot more money!

It has been 2 weeks after I got my first Moleskine.

I'm using it as my virtually live recorder for almost all of my activity. This habit ate a lot of my moleskine pages.
From the begining, I didn't plan to create something fancy on my black book, I just use it whenever I need. So you couldn't expect my moleskine to be fancy like these pictures :

Moleskine | Moleskine
My First Moleskine! | album :: moleskine

Those are too fancy for me, I can't do that. What my moleskine really done to me is saving my budget. Why is that happend? You know, I am really writing my grocery list right now and take it with me whenever I go shopping. It just made me more dicipline to get away from unnecessary window shopping. Thanks God...

I have been thinking for so long of encouraging my daughter to love writing. I believe that writing is an important skill for her in the future and I don't want she will lack of this skill later on her life. But how could I encourage her and keeping in my mind for not pushing her too hard? because I believe learning especially for kids should be fun.

Recently I got ideas of implementing this training to my daughter. I found that our daily activities are potential media that worth using it to increase training whereas keeping it fun. For example you can use several tips that I got from Internet:

Grocery List

Enlist your child's help in making the grocery list. Walk around the kitchen, naming things you need from the store. Ask your child to write everything down. Your child can also suggest foods you might need from the store and he can add those, too.

Old Checks

If you've recently switched banks and have checks that need to be destroyed, first let your child play with them. Give him some envelopes and he can pretend to pay bills -- while getting him to do some writing. Of course, destroy the checks afterwards. If you do not have checks available, you can just give your child some blank pieces of paper and he can make his own checks.

Cards

If your child is interested in Pokemon or Yu-Gi-Oh cards, then give him some index cards cut in half and have him design his own cards. Encourage your child to give the characters names and special abilities on their cards.

Fictional Journal

Sometimes it is hard for children to write in a journal. What is there to write about? Instead of a standard journal, give your child a fictional journal. He or she can pretend to be anything they'd like to be and write a journal as that person. Your child could write from the perspective of an Astronaut discovering a new planet, Prince or Princess on an Adventure, Archaeologist finding a new species of Dinosaur, Famous Athlete, President of a Country, Passenger on the Titanic. Your child could write from the perspective something instead of someone, a mailbox, an animal, a pen. The possibilities are endless.

Letter-writing

Have your child write a letter to Santa, the Easter bunny, or the Tooth Fairy. Or, your child could write to their favorite athlete, fictional character, or movie star.

Alphabet Game

Take a piece of paper and write the letters A-Z in the left column. Then, choose a category from the following or make up one of your own. Vegetables, Fruits, Animals, Musical Instruments. For older children, the categories can be narrower and more difficult, like Countries, Characters in Literature, Presidents, etc. Set a timer and you and your child both list as many of the items in the category as you can for each letter. The trick at the end is that you have to cross off anything on your list that your child has listed. (for instance, if you both have "apple" for an "a" fruit, then the parent crosses theirs off.) Whoever has the most words wins.

Character Game

Tell your child to pick a character from a book or movie that he's familiar with, and you do the same. Then, ask several questions and you each write the answers to the questions on a piece of paper. When you've finished asking the questions, then have your child read the answers and try to guess who he was pretending to be. You do the same and see if your child can guess who you were. Whether you are pretending to be Peter Pan or Shrek, you and your child will have fun and your child won't even realize he's practicing his writing!

Writing tips for you who stuck before writing the second line of love letter.

I experience problem several times, when I was trying to write a love letter for my lovely wife. I wrote the first Dear line easily, but then I stuck just before writing the second sentence. What should I write then? because I have many things in my mind but I just couldn't express it fluently. Recently I found a good tips to reduce my problem. Here there are, you can adopt it if you find it useful. Love Letter is wonderful

Everyone wants to be loved. When you are busy living life, there never seems time to slow down and really savour that central relationship that makes it all worthwhile. Oftentimes we think that those closest to us know exactly how we feel about them and how important they are to us. But the sad reality is that often they don't. So how can you write a love letter that you will feel proud to give and one that your loved one will cherish for all time? Where do you start?

1.First write down 5 things that you love about your partner and be as specific as possible.

Rather than writing that they are kind, instead be detailed about how they are kind. Perhaps they always smile at waiters in restaurants or they are great at making people feel included, especially at parties.

2.Write down 5 things that they have done that confirms how much you love them and again, give examples.

Perhaps they enveloped you in a hug last night when you were feeling frustrated about your family. Or maybe they knew how disappointed you were when you missed out on that promotion and they cooked a special meal to cheer you up.

3.Pick the best three examples from each of the above categories and weave them into your letter.

You could start by saying 'I love how you…' and then include the three examples from the first point. Then you could say something like 'I loved the way you…' and then mention the other examples. Make sure you emphasise how their actions made you feel, how loved you felt and how grateful you are to have them in your life.

4.It is best to write up a draft first and then go over it to see if you can improve it.

Sometimes it helps to write up what you want to say, edit it until it flows well and then leave it for a day or two before going back for a final edit and polish.

5.Buy some special paper and write out your letter.

Don't worry if your handwriting isn't perfect - it's distinctly yours and your loved one will appreciate the time and effort you put into the letter. If you feel your writing is so bad it will be difficult to read or if your illegible handwriting is something you've argued about before then pay to get it hand written by a professional. At a stretch you could use a more romantic font on your computer, say Garamond in italic, but you should really only do that as a last resort. The more personal you can make your letter the more your loved one will treasure it.

6.Think about how you plan on delivering this letter to them.

Will you slip it in their briefcase? Mail it? Leave it under the pillow? Do you want to be there when they open it? If you want to see their reaction, then it is best to hand it to them. You could team the letter up with a small gift like flowers or chocolate but make sure the gift doesn't diminish the letter as you want that to be the main focus. If a birthday or anniversary or other special occasion is involved you'll want to include mention of that too.

Moleskine, what is that?

A moleskine (pronounced mol-a-skeen-a, /mɔləˈskinə/) is really only a notebook manufactured by Modo & Modo an Italian company. The standard Moleskine Notebook measures 9 x 14cm and features the following: lightweight, acid-free paper, a foldable pocket in the back cover, a cloth ribbon attached to the spine to serve as a bookmark, and a woven elastic band attached to the back to keep the book closed when not in use. When for the first time I saw this black notebooks around two years ago, I didn't interested on it because of it's premium price. Wait a minute... I could buy a cheaper one just for a notebook, but nevertheless I still keep a curiosity somewhere in my mind.

I realized then that my curiosity of this black notebook were growing bigger and stronger and it have convicted me to buy this notebook. Voilà I got a squared moleskine notebook. Then I started to write on it. Hmm its feels good and pretty handy, so I could carry it anywhere in my pocket. I begin to write with my Parker pen, but wait !!... it cannot dry quickly and it blotted to the opposite page. Something must be wrong here. Then I goggled down Internet to solve this problem. I realized that there are many moleskine fans websites with a lot of useful tips for using this premium price notebook. Aha I got it.... so I recite some tips here only for you:

Moleskine Notebook, some tips on using it

  • Although the book will fit in a back trouser pocket, if you're going to carry it on your person, it's less damaging to the book to put it in your jacket pocket. (Although the book is light, placing it in a shirt pocket is not recommended.)

  • Always use the elastic to keep the pages closed. The pages may be acid-free, but they are not waterproof. Keeping the book closed tightly with the elastic will limit any rain damage to the page edges.

  • The ideal writing instrument for the standard size notebook will have a fine point (ie a maximum of 0.7mm). Either pen or pencil will work nicely.

  • If you're using the notebook as a creative writing aid, Bruce Chatwin recommended numbering each page for use as a reference guide.

  • Chatwin also suggested placing your mailing address in the inside cover, along with notice of a reward for recovery in the event the book gets lost. (The Modo and Modo version provides a space in the inside front cover for this information.)

Reading mini lesson tips to speed read faster than ever.

Many people, particularly students, would love to be able to absorb information faster. But before retaining information, they have to go through the first stage of learning, which is reading.
For many individuals who are pressed for time, have to read faster has become a necessity. However, it's not just the reading part that is important. Equally essential is for the reader to fully understand the words coming out from the book or paper.
Here are some great tips to read faster and and comprehend more.

1) Relax.

If you're in the stressed mode, it would be much more difficult to concentrate; hence, it would just be a lot harder for the information to sink in.

2) Know what you want.

Focus on the areas that you really need to learn. Some people read all parts of a book, when all they need to know is a specific chapter. Know your priority. If you need to find out about a certain subject, go to the Table of Contents and search for the heading that best suits your need. If you need to learn more, then adjust accordingly. The important thing is to weed out the stuffs that you don't currently need.

3) Get rid of the structure words.

Did you know that around 60% of the words we read are structure words? Examples are the words "the, or, and." They are essential in the structure of the sentences; but when you ignore them, they basically mean the same thing. They only serve to beautify, yet you can understand what you are reading even without them. Try not to focus too much attention on structure words.

4) Practice, practice, practice.

When I started exercising with weights, I can only lift the lighter ones. As the time goes by, I slowly add more and more weights as my body tends to adjust and become more comfortable carrying heavier ones.
The same concept goes for speed reading. Set a goal. Figure out how fast you can read, then create a plan to increase your ability.
If you can read 200 words per minute, set a goal to read 250 words a minute. After accomplishing this feat, set a goal to read 300 words per minute.
This takes time and practice, but the effort is all worth it. If this is your first time to set such a goal, read first those materials you are familiar with.
Carry on with more difficult ones as you progress. This way, you're not overwhelming yourself with understanding different new words and at the same time developing your speed reading skills. In no time at all you will read faster.

The human mind is an innovative hybrid that allows us to anticipate the future - to think big thoughts. That's the good news.

Waterfalls is like a crazy ideas
However, a growing number of psychologists and behavioral scientists are finding evidence that our brains are hard-wired for mistakes in today social environment, especially when it comes to assessing the personality and predicting behavior of people we encounter.

Why are we so bad at reading the intentions of others? Built on top of the older "emotional" parts of our mammalian circuitry, there is a "rational" cerebral cortex. The two are often at odds, and under the surface, our protective instincts are always lurking. Unfortunately the "emotional" circuitry frequently overwhelms the "rational" cortex. When we encounter people we simply give more weight to elements in their personalities that support our beloved preconceptions than to any evidence to the contrary. Thus we frequently completely miss the target and pay a price of our misjudgments.

Most people do not listen with the intent to understand - they listen with the intent to reply or impress. This is never successful because the mind does not have simultaneous capability. Therefore, if you are contemplating your next statement, you are not focusing on his words, tones and actions.

In order to read a person like a book, you must get them to open up, get them talking. Getting people to open up is a skill that you can learn.

A skilled conversationalist uses specific question in three different categories. (1) Conversation starters. (2) Personal questions. (3) Philosophical questions. Once you've mastered a small inventory of optional questions you can switch categories to control the outcome.

QUESTIONS ARE THE KEY TO KNOWLEDGE and source of power. He who does not ask the right questions always hears the wrong answers. An unclear question has an infinite number of answers.

Many say that information is the path to power. The wealthiest people will tell you that it's their ability to make wise choices in dealing with people is their greatest asset. And that when they did make mistakes, it was often disastrous for them socially and financially.

Learning disability on children can be a little difficult to manage because of their specific needs and wants.

They live in the world of their own and neither do they subscribe to the ways of our world, nor are they much interested in it. They simply don't understand the world other than the one they build inside themselves. It is the loss of communication thread, the loss of connection that makes the child build a world within himself or herself. It is normally because the child feels isolated and lonely. Let that not happen.Learning disabilities could banned child's future

The children with learning disability would often find it difficult to develop minor motor skills like using scissors and painting or even handling a paint brush properly. And they can be very sensitive to many things. They would hardly understand jokes, as it is difficult for them to understand different meanings ascribed to different words.

Many of them would fail to recall as to what sound each letter or a word, which is a combination of letters, made. Then, there are others who can read aloud very well. They recognize the sound each word has to make and can make them, but they have no clue as to what those lines mean. Another category of such children consists of those who have difficulty reading words, but once they are helped with it, they can understand the meaning very well.

However, a majority of them have problems with organizational skills, which translated into their losing their pencils, pens, notebooks, coats, etc. very often. Their rooms would be like a battlefield and so would be their cupboards. They simply have no idea how to organize things, and how to stack them up neatly.

In case of such children what one needs to do is try to understand them, and be very patient. They react easily, and that's natural. But if you react to that reaction, it can make things much too difficult for the child. It is also important that if your child is showing any of the learning disability symptoms mentioned above, you go for an evaluation. As, the earlier it is detected, the better it is. Remember, so long as you do not completely cut them off from your world, there is every chance that they would overcome their disability to a very large extent, sooner or later.
