When you registering a new account on Google, you will see the form like that. If you select to enable the web history, that means all of your internet activity will be recorded on Google data center. If you're not feeling all right with those data collecting activity, you can disabled that option.
Another way to stop Google tracking your Internet searching history is by using Firefox web browser and installing additional script.
Install Firefox:
http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/
Install the GreaseMonkey plugin:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/748
Install the GoogleMonkeyR script:
http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/9310
Click on the GoogleMonkeyR link that appears in the top right of your google search results screen.
Check "Disable Google tracking my search results" and click save.
Now you can hide your search activity. At least now you gained a bit of privacy from the big brother
